Investment

This committee serves at the sole purpose of the Session and is responsible for the endowment funds and their earnings. *

*  The Memorial Endowment Fund was founded on October 27th, 1914 and has had principal added to it through the years by gifts and bequests of members and friends of the congregation.  This fund is restricted from being used for the general running expenses of the Church.  The income from the fund is available for use in general repairs, permanent improvements of the church property, mission giving and special donor identified uses.  In no case is it used for ordinary, small, current repairs.  And the principal is not available for use.  The earnings on this fund are to be available for all future years within these guidelines.  The fund earnings are usually approximately $75,000 per year.  The committee oversees a professional investment management company, which invests in a safe manner, as dictated by the founders of the fund.

Committee of five:  David Geisel, Bill Fagley, Jeff Wallace: members at large, plus
Bretton Walberg, Treasurer and Session Finance Chairman, and
Pastor Dobi, ex-officio member   [Session appoints the five members of this committee]

We are indeed blessed at the saints of years past whose gifts and bequests have provided cash principal whose 5.5% earnings annually help with the mission and operation of our Congregation.  The earnings from these funds are used for the donor’s requests.  Anyone interested in investigating adding monies to this ongoing stewardship may contact their estate advisor or the Chairman of this committee who can provide some general information and guide them to a list of local professionals, and banks that can provide custom advice to achieve these gifting goals.

Interestingly there are at least half a dozen different methods that individuals can gift while accommodating their own individual maintenance and tax needs.  If you feel lead to do this, please call for more information.

In His Service,

The Investment Committee of Session for Eternal Endowments
